As part of this LIEF Grant, the ASSDA Melbourne node (eSRC) is researching Andrew Kenyon's records from the project Defamation Law in Context: Australian and US News Production Practices and Public Debate (2003-2006) on which Andrew Kenyon is joint chief investigator with Tim K. Marjoribanks.

Details

Andrew Kenyon received first class honours, Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne (1994) and was admitted as a legal practitioner of the Victorian Supreme Court in 1995.

Andrew became Director of the Law School's Centre for Media and Communications Law in January 2003. Andrew obtained a PhD in law from the University of Melbourne (2002); a LLM with distinction from the University of London (1997) having been awarded a Menzies Memorial Scholarship in Law for the study; and a first class honours LLB from the University of Melbourne (1994). In 1995 he was admitted as a legal practitioner of the Victorian Supreme Court. In 2002 he was employed as an Academic at the University of Melbourne Law School, after acting as a research fellow for several years.

From 2003 to 2006, Andrew Kenyon was a chief investigator on the project Defamation Law in Context: Australian and US News Production Practices and Public Debate, which was funded by an ARC Discovery Project grant. The other chief investigator was Tim K. Marjoribanks.

Andrew Kenyon's research interests include defamation law and the media, often taking an empirical and comparative approach to issues in Australia, England or the United States of America.
