From ARC - Large Research Grants Program - Final Report (2000) - Section B - The Research:
"The project has generated a critical map of the development of the main social sciences in Australia and their part in the shaping of the postwar polity. The origins and growth of political studies provides the initial focus. This is then necessarily broadened into a notion of 'the political sciences' to include other social science disciplines - history, psychology, anthropology (and sociology), and above all economics - that played a significant role in public policymaking and in the shaping of the polity more generally. The study's treatment of the integral link formed during this period between the social sciences and nation building opens up several conceptual pathways for rethinking models of social development in the contemporary global era."
